Ad hoc and Discontinued

Over the years, AEA has offered several awards that were either one-time prizes or have since been discontinued, often in partnership with organizations such as Voskeni Wines and C-Quadrat. This page preserves their history and honors the researchers who received them.

Voskeni Award

The Voskeni Award recognized the best paper in agricultural and environmental economics. Established in collaboration with, and generously supported by, Voskeni Wines, the award aimed to build interest in research on Armenia’s agricultural sector—from farm productivity to food systems and environmental sustainability—and to raise the quality bar for research in these fields across Armenia and the region.

C-Quadrat Award

The C-Quadrat Student Award recognized the best student work on asset management and pension economics. Established in collaboration with, and generously supported by, C-Quadrat Ampega Armenia (AMD 200,000), the award aimed to build student interest in research on portfolio management, retirement savings, and financial forecasting, and to raise the quality bar for student research in these fields across Armenia and the region.

2020

Yana Hovsepyan (American University of Armenia) and Arman Zhamharyan (Goethe University of Frankfurt) each received a C-Quadrat Award at the Student Workshop Asset Management and Pension Economics, held virtually on August 28, 2020.

2018

Robert Yenokyan (American University of Armenia, BAB ’18), Developing a Framework for Forecasting Financial Time Series Using a Wavelet-LSTM Hybrid Model. Yenokyan’s Capstone Honors Thesis, supervised by Dr. Gayane Barseghyan, Assistant Professor at the Manoogian Simone College of Business and Economics, was presented at the 2018 AEA Annual Meetings, held June 15–16, 2018.

 

World Bank Award for Best Paper on Inclusive Growth

At 2017 AEA Annual Meetings, the World bank announced a special Award for Research on Inclusive Growth which was awarded to Vahram Ghushchyan and Narek Ohanyan (American University of Armenia) for their paper Enabling Conditions for Inclusive Growth in Armenia: Evidence form Household Integrated Living Conditions Survey.

 

Sergey Mergelyan Award

Named for the Armenian mathematician Sergey Mergelyan, this award recognized outstanding general-interest papers by researchers of any career stage and citizenship.
