Advancing Economic Research and Scholarship in Armenia
Since 2006, the Armenian Economic Association has connected researchers, policymakers, and students dedicated to advancing economics in and about Armenia.
The Armenian Economic Association (AEA) is a nongovernmental, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to promoting Armenian scholarship in economics. We work to advance economics education, encourage rigorous research, foster collaboration between academic, private, and public sector researchers, and provide a platform for open discussion of economic and public policy issues.
Our flagship event, the Annual Meetings, brings together economists from around the world each summer in Yerevan. Past keynote speakers have included Daron Acemoglu and Lee Ohanian.

What's new?
The 16th Annual Meetings were held at the American University of Armenia on June 29-July 1, 2026, featuring over 90 papers presented across 27 sessions.
Congratulations to the winners of this year’s four best paper awards—Armen Alchian Award, Grigor Artsruni Award, IMF Award, and Ashot Mkrtchyan Award—presented at the 2026 Annual Meetings. See the winners.
AEA welcomes two new board members: Ruben Enikolopov (Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona School of Economics) and Artashes Karapetyan (ESSEC Business School).
